The Motor City Five (MC5) was formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1964 by vocalist Rob Tyner. Heavily associated with drugs and sex, the band was laying the grounds for punk music. Their first album, "Kick Out the Jams", an extremely loud recording, layered with distortion guitars and feedback noises, was released in '68, reaching national Top 30. Having been involved in political scandals, criticized and censored by the mainstream, the band finally split in '72. Their music, however, has continued influencing musicians and was reissued in the 90's.
