The bluegrass band Longview was formed in 1995 when six veteran country musicians decided to join forces in playing a tribute to the traditional sound of the 40’s and 50’s. Musicians James King, Dudley Cornell, Don Rigsby, Glen Duncan, Marshall Wilborn and Joe Mullins have played together in several sessions and festivals along the years. When encouraged by Rounder Records co-owner Ken Irwin the group assembled for a week at the Long View Recording Complex to record traditional tracks by the Louvin Brothers, Don Reno and Ralph Stanley. In 1999 they followed up with “High Lonesome”.
