Album Review
These early sides feature Slim's rasping vocals and dirty playing but the real draw is the weird echo that seems to shimmer off of everything, down to the bass drum and cymbals. The effect is nothing short of psychedelic, sounding like a cross between the earliest Howlin' Wolf creep-fests and John Lee Hooker's tripped-out "Walkin' the Boogie" on House of the Blues.
