Kristy Starling was born in Oklahoma City, USA. She won second place in the television singing contest "American Idol" and started to record music soon after the show. When she was introduced to producer David Foster, she signed a major deal and began to work on her self-titled debut album, which was released in 2003. Starling decided to sing contemporary Christian music, a big market in the US, and her debut single "Water" got some national airplay. Her style was just a glimpse away from Celine Dion, LeAnn Rimes and Faith Hill.
