News Ticker: Metallica, John Lennon, Sammy Hagar and Journey

Metallica continue to gear up for next week’s release of Death Magnetic. The band premiered their video for “The Day That Never Comes” (video above), posted audio snippets for every track on the album and streamed the full studio version of “Cyanide.” A biopic detailing John Lennon’s teenage years, titled Nowhere Boy, is currently in the casting stage. The film was written by Matt Greenhalgh, who penned the Joy Division film Control, and will be directed by visual artist Sam Taylor-Wood. Unlike the Van Halen brothers, former VH singer Sammy Hagar has no problem with John McCain using the band’s “Right Here, Right Now.” “Whether it was McCain who used the song or if Obama had chosen to use the song, with the current political climate, the lyrics still have the same meaning,” Hagar says in a statement. A Journey concert at Hershey Park, Pennsylvania, resulted in unexpected fodder for the police blotter as 13 people were arrested for various reasons including underage drinking, trespassing and disorderly conduct.
