Best known as a founding member of and the keyboardist for the heavy metal group Deep Purple, Jon Lord was born June 9, 1941, in Leicestershire, England. Lord played in many bands and in the studio, as on the Kinks debut LP before the formation of Deep Purple. The group's 1968 album, "Shades of Deep Purple", generated the Top Five smash "Hush". On his solo albums, Lord proved his composing talent, such as on "Gemini Suite", "Before I Forget" and 1998’s "Pictured Within". Deep Purple reunited in 1984, successfully toured and in 1987 released "The House of Blue Light".
