Johnny Hates Jazz
The trio Johnny Hates Jazz (named after a band's friend who despised the genre) was formed in 1986 by pianist/vocalist Clark Datchler, keyboardist Calvin Hayes, and bassist Mike Nocito. The band released their first major single "Shattered Dreams" in 1987, which reached the Top 5 both in the UK and US. With the release of the LP "Turn Back the Clock" the band became a multi-platinum selling act. However, at the height of the band's success, Datchler left for a solo career. The band released "Tall Stories" before disbanding in 1990.
