Born May 22, 1966 in Washington, D.C., Johnny Gill began singing at age 5 in his family’s group Wings of Faith. Singer Stacy Lattisaw noticed his talent in 1984, and together they sang the R&B Top Ten duo hit "Perfect Combination". 1988 saw Gill replacing Bobby Brown in the group New Edition. The next year he sang on two R&B hits: the #1 "Where Do We Go from Here" and "One Love" by George Howard. Released in 1990, his debut solo album, "Johnny Gill", sold a million copies and made Top Ten of both the pop and R&B charts. Gill’s 3rd album, "Let’s Get the Mood Right", came out in 1996.
