Jelly Roll Morton was born in 1890 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He became a well respected jazz composer and band leader. Morton played the piano and created great tunes such as "I Thought I heard Buddy Bolden Say", "Don't You Leave Me Here" and "King Porter Stomp". He led bands like Red Hot Peppers (now you know...) and worked with Johnny Dodds and Stomp Evans. Morton faced some serious problems during the Depression. He moved to New York where he played with cool cats such as Sidney Bechet. Some of his works were re-released via BMG. Morton died in 1941 in Los Angeles, California.
