Hot Chip

Seeing Hot Chip live is an interesting experience, and one that leaves you wondering how a bunch of geeky-looking guys can conjure up such a mesmerising sound. But conjur it they do.
Starting out as a bedroom outfit led by Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard, the group trooped on, collecting more members as they went and building momentum through word of mouth. Their sound is a synth-inspired jumble of drumbeats, samples and all manner of wonkiness, all pulled together by Alexis's strikingly laidback vocals. Expect bells, kazoos and anything with the word 'Casio' emblazoned on it.
The Mercury-nominated "The Warning" hinted at greatness, especially the captivating "Over And Over", and in 2008's album "Made In The Dark", Hot Chip have fulfilled their potential with some style. Listen and it really is impossible not to fall in love.
If you get the chance, see them live and watch a throng of thirtysomethings waving glowsticks and slapping their heads like they just don't care. Brilliant.
