Guru

The rapper/composer Guru alias Keith Elam started his career in music in the successful hip-hop outfit Gang Starr, but also pursued a solo career as of 1993, when his debut album “Jazzamatazz, Vol. 1” saw release. The offering fused jazz with rap and featured guest appearances from artists such as Roy Ayers and Donald Byrd. Further solo albums included “Jazzamatazz, Vol. 2: The New Reality” (1994) and “Moment of Truth” (1998), which featured heavyweight contributors such as Herbie Hancock and Erykah Badu. Guru went on to collaborate with Angie Stone on the track “Keep Your Worries”.
