A sample of a distress call from Star Trek opens this LP, setting a mood of excitement and disquiet. The "energy distortion" the Trekkies fret about permeates Grooverider's chilling drum 'n' bass, which skitters nervously and then expands into vast, beat-filled nebulae. Goldie and Roni Size may be better known, but Grooverider is really d 'n' b's dark horse.
