Gregg Allman
Gregg Allman is one of the gods of southern rock and boogie. Born December 8th, 1947 in Nashville, TN, USA, he was lead singer, organist, and songwriter for the Allman Brothers Band. From '69 to '72 the band had notable hits, including Allman's "Whipping Post" and "Midnight Rider", though they were foremost famous for long instrumental jams. His solo records also proved they could sell, especially 77's "Playin' up a Storm" with its soul approach. Not all that glitters was gold for Allman later though, up until 97's "Searching for Simplicity".
