Gong
The experimental rock outfit Gong was formed in the late sixties in Australia by the ex-Soft Machine guitarist Daevid Allen and his wife, the vocalist Gilli Smyth. Their albums told the tale of the peaceful planet Gong, home of Zero the Hero, the Radio Gnomes and the Octave Doctors. The released albums such as “Camembert Electrique” (1971) or “Flying Teapot” (1973) but drifted out of their irreverent phase into the sphere of uninspired improvisation/experimentation after a while. A number of Gong spin-offs such as Mothergong and Gongzilla have tried to regain the original momentum since then.
