Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers

Doo-wop superstar Frankie Lymon, the leader in Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers, lived a very short life. He was born in 1942 in Harlem, New York, where he also died of drugs in 1968. Lymon and his band kicked it all off with their song "Why Do Fools Fall In Love", which became one of the best selling singles of all times. Although the band split up after only 18 months they became a role model for many groups to come, among them The Jackson Five. After "Fools" they never had a true hit again. Their most important album was "The Teenagers Featuring Frankie Lymon", released in '56 via Gee Records.
