Elis Regina
Elis Regina was born in 1945, and even after her death in 1982 she is still among the best selling female singers in Brazil. In 1965 she won her first festival song contest with "Arrastão". The song was later released, and she became the biggest selling Brazilian recording artist since Carmen Miranda. Her second album, "Dois na Bossa", broke national sales records. In 1974 she recorded a duet album with Antonio Carlos Jobim, entitled "Elis & Tom", which is regarded as one of the greatest bossa nova albums of all time. 100,000 fans and Brazil's greatest singers paid tribute at her memorial.
