Ed McCurdy
Ed McCurdy was one of the most popular folk revivalists of the late 1950s and early 1960s, also writing "Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream," a song covered in coffeehouses by folkniks everywhere. His Pete Seeger-esque tenor inflections were rich in vocal timbre and fit perfectly next to warm acoustic guitar strums and arpeggios. Although he excelled at singing cowboy songs and children's folk songs, it was his politically active, campus-cool material that made McCurdy a hit with the subcultural movement of that era.
