Born on March 1, 1917 in Winchester, TN, Dinah Shore was one of America’s most popular female entertainers during the 40’s and 50’s. Her career began as a Nashville radio singer, but she soon moved to New York where she signed a solo deal with the Bluebird label and released a string of hits, including “Blues in the Night” and “I Hear a Rhapsody”. In the early 50’s Shore launched the long running, highly popular “The Dinah Shore Chevy Show”. Throughout the following decades she remained an American icon, though her appearances became scarce. Sadly, she died of cancer in 1994.
