Dee Dee Bridgewater

Music > Dee Dee Bridgewater
Dee Dee Bridgewater was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1950. She has been touted as one of the best jazz vocalists of her generation and was part of the University of Illinois Big Band and the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, but since she never focused on building a career she was more or less overlooked by the jazz world until she moved to France in the 80's. She appeared in numerous European jazz festivals and finally made it big with her 1995 Horace Silver tribute album "Love and Peace". Her 1997 tribute album "Dear Ella" won her a Grammy.
