David Sanborn

The jazz/pop musician David Sanborn was born on July 30, 1945 in Tampa, Florida, but grew up in St. Louis. He played saxophone for many well-known acts, such as The Paul Butterfield Blues Band (with whom he appeared at the Woodstock festival), Stevie Wonder and David Bowie. He started to record as a leader in 1975, when he released the album “Taking Off”. Now Sanborn, one of the most influential pop saxophonists of all times, moved into mainstream jazz. In the nineties Sanborn also hosted the TV series “Night Music”, which featured an eclectic mix of guest musicians.
