Multi-instrumentalist David Lindley was born in Southern California in 1944. Lindley combines American folk, blues and bluegrass with elements from African, Arabic, Asian, Celtic, Malagasy and Turkish music. He has long been one of Hollywood's most in demand session musicians, having recorded with Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, Linda Ronstadt, Crosby and Nash and from 1971 to 1981 with Jackson Browne. In 1981, Lindley formed his own band, El Rayo-X, influenced by American roots music, world beat, and reggae. They recorded several albums, including the highly acclaimed "Win This Record" (1982).
