Dave Matthews Band: Photos and Stories Behind “GrooGrux King”

The Dave Matthews Band recently rocked two gigs at Boston’s Fenway Park, where they were joined onstage by Willie Nelson, debuted six songs from their new Number One album Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King and mixed in classics like “Jimi Thing” and “Ants Marching” alongside a covers of “All Along the Watchtower” and “Burning Down the House.” Rolling Stone’s Evan Serpick was on the ground with DMB for an On the Road feature (find it in our new issue), and spoke to Matthews backstage about the inspiration behind many of the songs on Big Whiskey: saxophonist LeRoi Moore, who died last year.
