He counts Mark Ronson as one of his best friends and spends his evenings opening gigs for the likes of Kanye West and Justin Timberlake. But Daniel Merriweather's road to success has not been the swiftest of journeys. The Australian-born R&B singer-songwriter has seen a gradual rise in popularity following his first commercial success as a guest vocalist on Australian dance track All I Want way back in 2002. Since then, Daniel has teamed up with Ronson on a number of highly successful collaborations including a cover of The Smiths' track Stop Me.

Citing Stevie Wonder and Prince as his influences, Merriweather has a lot of work to do before he lives up to their level of superstardom. His solo album Love & War, produced solely by Ronson, debuted in June 2009. Although it reached a promising No.2 in the UK album chart, his third single Imagine peaked at only No.67.

With live performances at Glastonbury, Global Gathering and the O2 Wireless festival in Hyde Park in 2009, as well as receiving two nominations at the MTV European Music Awards, it looks like Daniel Merriweather's time has finally arrived. Let's see if it can last.
