DJ Red Alert
A bonafied founding father of hip-hop music and culture, Kool DJ Red Alert goes back to day one, hooking up with Kool Herc and Coke La Rock while in high school. He soon connected with Afrika Bambaataa, becoming an original member of the Zulu Nation while refining his skills with the likes of Grandmaster DST and Afrika Islam. After earning a rep spinning at clubs all over downtown Manhattan, he started to DJ on air, working at NYC's KISS FM for over a decade. He also joined forces with BDP and helped launch the careers of Native Tongue-sters A Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, and Black Sheep. He's released several compilation albums over the years, frequently judges DMC competitions, has been inducted into both the Rap and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fames, and has appeared in over 50 videos. He currently hosts two daily shows on New York's HOT 97 and is set to release a new album for LOUD records.
