Born in Japan and currently headquarted in New York, DJ Honda has been holding it down since the early nineties, spinning at clubs and on the radio, as well as remixing tracks for Japanese artists. In '92 he was a runner-up at the legendary DJ Battle For World Supremecy, and he sometimes judges ITF tournaments. His self-titled first album dropped in '96, featuring an array of hip-hop heavy-hitters like Biz Markie, Common, Grand Puba, and the Beatnuts. He returned in '98 with HII, teaming up with KRS-One, Mos Def, and others. Shortly after, he formed his own record label, and also operates several clothing stores in Japan and NYC. In 2000, Honda made waves with "El Presidente," a single featuring Jeru The Damaja. HIII is slated for release in mid-2001.
