Polish arranger Claus Ogerman made a name for himself by using the sounds of the city and nature as elements in his orchestral compositions. His numerous collaborations and recording projects were a sign of how respected he had become in the musical world. After a late-60's stint at RCA Victor, where he recorded several albums, Ogerman went independent, collaborating with other accomplished jazz artists, like Jan Akkerman and Michael Brecker, while also pursuing solo projects. He formed his own jazz orchestra in the 70's, an outfit which put out "Gate of Dreams" in 1977.
