The vocalist Claude Nougaro was born on September 9, 1929 in Toulouse, France. He started to work as a journalist in 1947and began to write songs in the early fifties, when he also started to perform in the Parisian cabaret “Le Lapin Agile”. His first album went unnoticed, but his second effort, the 1962 release “Une Petite Fille”, became a hit. As of 1964 Nougaro started to be influenced by Brazilian rhythms, as can be heard in his 1965 recording of “A Bout de Soufflé”. Nougaro enjoyed a long, successful career and died in the year 2004.
