The jazz bassist, Charlie Haden, was born in Shenandoah, IA on August 6, 1937. His style is hard to classify. Known for his simple style, at times his music is dissonant, such as some of his 60´s and 70´s collabarations with Ornette Coleman and Keith Jarrett, and his music as leader of the Liberation Music Orchestra. However, he is more known for his consonance. Although he reconstituted the Liberation music at times in the 90´s, mostly he was playing with his band Quartet West. In 2000 he once again played with Coleman at the Bell Atlantic Jazz Festival in New York City.
