A fast-rising emcee out of Houston, Chamillionaire has been knee-deep in the bubbling Houston hip-hop scene for years, working in promotions (a la Young Jeezy) as well as shining on the mic. Dubbed the "mix tape messiah," he gained a loyal local following through numerous freestyles and guest appearances, and soon formed a duo with childhood homie Paul Wall; they were known as the Color Changin' Click. The two signed to powerhouse label Swisha House and released several popular projects, though business/financial issues soon splintered the partnership. With his independent success, reputation for beef, strong rhyme skills and 50 Cent-esque deadpan hook singing, he and his label Chamillitary Entertainment inked a distribution deal with Universal in late 2004. The following year, Chamillionaire released his hotly anticipated major label debut, The Sound of Revenge.
