CeCe Winans is the uncontested queen of urban gospel. Her best work leans toward CCM, being rhythmically and melodically more straight-laced than her urban gospel and R&B contemporaries. But in any category, she's pure powerhouse. Her presence and vocal abilities fall somewhere between Patti LaBelle and Sandi Patty, which isn't a surprise considering her gospel-royalty bloodline: a spawn of the Winans legacy that includes Mom & Pop Winans, Bebe, Vickie, Marvin, Mario and more.
