After a late-80's apprenticeship with Derrick May, Detroit's Carl Craig made his first release in 1989. It was just the right time for techno and house music, and Craig was one of the greats of the 90's scene in Detroit. He started on Trasmat but later moved to his own label Planet E, and as his productivity increased, worked as Paperclip People, Innerzone Orchestra and 69. His tracks were consistently as subtle as they were infectious, on CD as well as live. His remix of Tori Amos' "God" was seminal, and the 2000 LP "Designer Music Vol. 1" celebrated a decade of revolutionizing work.
