African musician Boubacar Traore was born in Kayes, Mali. His music career began in the 1960's, singing and playing guitar in Kayes. His song "Mali Twist" became a big hit as he appeared on the radio almost daily and became known under his nickname Kar Kar. After a break of almost 20 years, Traore began playing again at the end of the 1980s. In 1994, he released his first CD "Mariama". He began touring extensively and soon put out his second album, "Kar Kar". "Sa Golo" followed in 1997 and "Macire" in 2000. Boubacar Traore is an internationally respected performer.
