Born on May 10, 1960 in Dublin, Ireland under the name of Paul Hewson, legendary rock icon Bono, frontman of the band U2, has touched millions of fans with his passion for justice, hope and love. The career of U2 exploded with the release of their album “The Joshua Tree” in 1987 and re-established with “Achtung Baby” in 1991. Taking good advantage of his popularity, Bono became socially active in issues of world hunger and, most notably, his Jubilee 2000 project, orchestrated to cancel third world debts. Bono and U2 performed in the historic Live Aid concerts in 1985 and 2005.
