Bobby Bare overcame a very difficult childhood to make it in the music business. Bare's mother died when he was a child, and because his father could not support the family, they were split up. However, by his teenage years he was playing in local bands and by the end of the fifties he had moved to Los Angeles. He got off to a good start when his talking blues version of "The All American Boy" went all the way to number two in 1959. As for his style, Bare was known for mixing folk, pop, blues, and country. In 2005 he released "The Moon Was Blue".
