Blossom Dearie
Born in 1926 in New York, Blossom Dearie was a delicate singer and an accomplished piano player with a touch for swing. After appearing with some of New York's cabaret groups she was signed to Verve, playing with bassist Ray Brown and drummer Jo Jones and recording standards like "Deed I Do" and "Thou Swell". For her later records she wrote "Blossom's Blues" and performed "My Gentleman Friend" with her husband, flutist Bobby Jaspar. In the 70's, she formed her own label, Daffodil Records, while continuing to play live in NY for years to come.
