Bernard Butler never was one to head for the spotlight, leaving his most famous band stint Suede at the height of their career in 1994. The British guitarist was, unlike his band mates, a quiet companion and could never plunge into stardom quite like others. Suede was a brilliant mixture of glam and exaggerated pop but Butler moved on to record or perform with soul singer David McAlmont, Aimee Mann, and Verve. Not wanting to be part of a band again, Butler signed on to Creation in 1997 and released two singer/songwriter records since.
