The pop singer Audra McDonald was born in Fresno, CA, USA in 1970. The classically trained soprano graduated from the Juilliard School of Music in 1993 and won a Tony Award for her performance in the Broadway revival of "Carousel". While continuing to work in the theatre, she released her debut album "Way Bach to Paradise", a compilation of theatre tunes, in 1998. In 2002, McDonald released "Happy Times", a re-working of songs from the 30's and 40's, among them Rodgers & Hart's "I Wish I Were in Love Again" and Irving Berlin's "Supper Time".
