Any Old Time String Band
This group play a wildly eclectic, virtuoso blend of Jug Band, Old-Time String Band, Cajun, Bluegrass and Country Blues. The predominantly female group includes banjo-playing multi-instrumentalist Kate Brislin, who also enjoys a career playing with folk fave Jody Stecher. The music is played with such exuberant abandon that it's easy to overlook how deep into the American canon these folks go to unearth the gritty, gnarled roots of pop and rock.
