Antonio Vega

Antonio Vega made his name as part of Nacha Pop, one of the key 'movida madrileña' rock bands of the late 1970s. The band signed to indie label Hispavox in 1980 after supporting the likes of Siouxsie and the Banshees and went on to record five LPs.
In 1988 Nacha Pop called it a day, and three years later Vega released his solo debut, No Me Iré Mañana, on the Pasíon label. Lauded as a returning hero by critics, Vega soon found himself subject of a legal battle after featuring artists from his former band on the recording -- against the letter of their contract. Happily Hispavox eventually relented and allowed the CD to be released.
Since then Vega has produced several records to wide acclaim in Spanish-speaking countries -- his most celebrated song being "Chica De Ayer". In 2000, Nacha Pop experienced a revival after featuring on the soundtrack to Mexican film "Amores Perros", sparking fresh interest in the group.
