Formed from the ashes of the numbskull band Vom, Angry Samoans quickly became (and remain) one of the best known Punk bands from Southern California. They have a special talent for making really dumb songs sound great, or, put more kindly, they could express the usual Punk frustrations with a sly sense of humor. Fronted by the high-pitched music critic/singer Metal Mike Saunders and with Gregg Turner and a number of others blasting away on guitar, Angry Samoans hit a critical nerve in the Los Angeles Punk scene. While their songs were some of the most likeably stupid around (e.g., "My Old Man's A Fatso"), they left the comic book silliness to the Dickies. Their music was as killer as the lyrics were insipid (and sometimes homophobic), which helped Angry Samoans become one of the longest lasting and more influential Punk bands from SoCal.
