In 1990, the doom metal band Anathema formed in Liverpool, England. Offering goth inspired, dark, gritty metal music, Anathema released their first official EP, "The Crestfallen", in 1992. Their debut album, "Serenades", followed suit in 1993. After diving deeper and deeper into the goth/death sphere, they ventured into more spacy soundscapes with the 1996 full-length release "Eternity". Since then, they have further honed their original approach to doom. Their latest effort to date was the strong 2004 offering "A Natural Disaster".
