The dance-pop/world musician Amina Annabi grew up in Tunisia in the sixties, but her family moved to France when Amina was 12 years old. Although trained at a Conservatory Amina first tried to break into the music business as a rapper in 1984. It was her 1987 album “Yalil” which was to make her a star on the French world music/disco scene, though. The sexy single release “Belly Dance”, featuring a James Brown sample, rose high in the French charts. In 1991 she became the first Arab-background musician to represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Le Dernier Qui A Parle”.
