Enough time has passed so that the joys of AM radio in the late '60s and early '70s can be thoroughly reveled in, and explored. With ornate orchestration and dark, literate, sweeping lyrics, the Aluminum Group come off like ascot-clad romantics who serenade you with songs by the Association when they're not reading Thomas Hardy aloud. Brothers John and Frank Navin are certainly vying for the "Hey, there's a party at Brian Epstein's bachelor pad" aesthetic, and they succeed in such an elegant, sophisticated way; you can't help but be entranced by the idea of tagging along.
