Austin and Lee Allen (not to be confused with the saxophone-playing Lee Allen) are the granddaddies of Brother Acts/Close Harmony country music. They were a sensation in the late 1920s, scoring numerous hits with their smooth harmonies and spirited, bluesy proto-Bluegrass, but the duo retired from music by the mid-1930s. By the time of the folk revival of the 1960s and the inevitable "rediscovery" of the Allen Brothers, Austin was already dead and Lee didn't wish to pursue the revival.
