Alicia Keys
Alicia Keys seemingly came out of nowhere in the summer of 2001, storming up the charts with her braids in tow and several heaping helpfuls of soul as well. But Keys is no pre-fab diva; she's been studying music since age five and began writing songs at age fourteen. She wrote (or co-wrote) and produced most of the songs on her debut, Songs In A Minor, and subsequent singles have proven she's no one-hit wonder. She's a young performer, but the power of her vocals belie her age. One to watch -- or more importantly, one to listen to.
