Alexis Korner
Alexis Korner had a big influence on introducing blues to England in the early 60s. He got his introduction to blues from American troops during World War II in London. After the war he started playing the blues himself and also founded the London Blues and Barrelhouse Club, which introduced blues to a wider audience. He released his first record in 1957 with Cyril Davies and in 1962 they formed the group Blues Incorporated. With the crossover success of Eric Clapton and The Rolling Stones in the early 60s, Korner, who stayed more of a blues traditionalist never enjoyed commercial success.
