The goal of the game is to transmute the board from lead to gold. You can do this by placing runes on every square. After a rune is placed on a square, this square turns gold. Every rune you place must be next to another rune. A rune you place must also have the same color and/or shape as all adjacent runes. When you complete a row or column of runes, it will disappear, leaving more room to place the next runes.

You can discard runes by clicking the discard button or by right-clicking your mouse. You can discard three runes in a row. The fourth one you discard will end your game. Luckily, the forge cools down with every rune you place. You can place every rune next to a grey stone. Skulls destroy the runes they're placed on. This can work for you or against you.

This game has three skill levels. The higher the level the more difficult to place the runes. However, if you succeed you earn more points in higher skill levels.

Use the mouse to place the runes. Click with the left mouse button on the square on which you want to place the rune. You can use the right mouse button to discard a rune.

You receive points for every rune you place. You receive bonus points for every completed column or row. Finally, you receive bonus points for turning the entire board into gold.

After you've transmuted the board from lead to gold, the next level starts.
